In the Computational Biology Molecular Lab Applications Department, we are at the forefront of developing state-of-the-art diagnostic products, research, and development. Our team is composed of forward-thinking scientists, engineers, and researchers who are passionate about revolutionizing healthcare through innovation. We are seeking a highly motivated </span>Bioinformatics Software Engineer Intern<span> to join our growing team and contribute to the development of tools for monitoring our high throughput  data analysis pipelines.</span></p><p><br /><span>This internship position is located in</span><b><b> Santa Clara, </b><b>Fully remote. </b></b><br /> </p><p><b><b>The Opportunity</b></b></p><ul><li><p><span>Design, develop, and implement intuitive and high-performance dashboards for monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) of data process pipelines.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries for data extraction and transformation from Google BigQuery.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Integrate monitoring dashboards with our data sources, specifically focusing on connecting to and visualizing data stored in Google BigQuery.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Collaborate with software engineers to understand pipeline architecture and data structures to ensure accurate and relevant performance metrics are captured and displayed.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Conduct testing and verification of dashboard metrics to ensure accuracy and reliability of the reported performance data.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Create documentation for the monitoring tools and dashboards to facilitate knowledge transfer and support internal users.</span><br /> </p></li></ul><p><b><b>Program Highlights</b></b></p><ul><li><p><b><b>Intensive </b><b>12-week</b><b>, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.</b></b></p></li><li><p><b><b>Program start dates are in May/</b><b>June 2026.</b></b></p></li><li><p><b><b>A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. </b></b></p></li><li><p><span>Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.</span><br /> </p></li></ul><p><b><b>Who You Are</b></b><br /> </p><p><b><b>Required Education</b></b><br />You meet one of the following criteria:</p><ul><li><p>Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).</p></li><li><p>Must have attained a Master's Degree.</p></li><li><p>Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).</p></li><li><p>Must have attained a PhD.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><b>Required Majors: </b></b>Computer Scientist, Bioinformatics, Computer Engineer, Computational Biology, Data Science.<br /> </p><p><b><b>Required Skills: </b></b></p><ul><li><p><span>Experience in SQL, with a working understanding of big data systems, preferably Google BigQuery.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience or strong familiarity with a data visualization and dashboarding tool (e.g., Google Data Studio, Looker, Tableau, Power BI).</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with a programming language such as Python or Java  is a plus.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication and teamwork abilities.</span><br /> </p></li></ul><p><b><b>Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications</b></b></p><ul><li><p><span>Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Familiarity with concepts of data pipeline architecture and performance monitoring is preferred.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with cloud infrastructure Google Cloud is a plus.</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience with software development tools such as Github, PyTest, CI/CD etc.</span><br /> </p></li></ul><p><b><b>Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. </b></b><br /> </p><p><span>The expected salary for this position based on the primary location of  California is</span><span> </span><b><span> 50.00 per</span><span> hour.  </span></b><span>Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
