About the Role

UPMC is seeking a detailed-oriented and analytical Data Analysis & Process Improvement Summer Intern.  The CHC Quality Team manages the reporting of critical incidents for CHC HCBS Participants, including tracking all investigative actions and ensuring critical incidents are responded to thoroughly, effectively, and timely. Team members work closely with service coordinators, quality improvement coordinators, and other staff in the health plan to investigate incidents, trends, Quality of Care concerns, and ensure all parties required are contacted within specified timelines. Incident Reporting data is collected and analyzed for quality measures, timeliness of response, and effective resolution. The Intern must have critical thinking skills to: Raise vital questions and problems with a participant’s situation or services.  Gather and assess relevant information from various health systems, and gain understanding of clinical terms and recommendations.  If unable to find notes, the Intern emails the assigned SC and assigned CI Investigator requesting follow-up be completed.  Continue to check each case that was incomplete and attempt contacting the initiating provider additional times either by email or phone call

This is a hybrid shift consisting of working from home and in the office. The internship will run from May 26th to August 14th with some flexibility to start and end if necessary.  

Irrespective of the published compensation in this posting, wages may be adjusted based on education and experience levels.

  • High School Diploma Strongly Preferred.
  • Current or recent undergraduate or graduate students.
