About the Role
Overview

First Citizens Bank’s Digital Transformation & Demand Management team is seeking a motivated self-starter to lead and contribute to a variety of projects that range from intake management and project prioritization to business case development and stakeholder communications. As a newly created function with the Enterprise Digital team, there is no established playbook, and no two days are alike. You will be part of a small but influential team that will create and institute new processes that help the Digital product teams consistently and efficiently deliver differentiated solutions to commercial and retail clients.

 

This internship opportunity is ideal for individuals that love to solve problems across wide-ranging domains and are comfortable operating with ambiguity, imperfect data and tight timelines.


Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Be assigned to one or more projects that will require conducting research and analysis to support process improvement or other recommendations that will be presented at the close of the internship
  • Conduct data-driven analysis to support the intake, sizing and prioritization of digital initiatives, ensuring alignment of budget and resources to strategic business objectives and key results
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, project managers, designers, data analysts, developers and go-to-market specialists, to evaluate new opportunities and support project execution
  • Create executive and other stakeholder presentations to communicate and influence digital strategy
  • Gain first-hand knowledge of how a large bank prioritizes, builds and delivers technology solutions
  • Have an opportunity to create an immediate impact in your specific areas of interest and experience
  • Attend professional development, informational and networking sessions
  • Have a dedicated manager to help you navigate the bank and the internship program
  • Prepare a wrap-up presentation to be shared with the division leader and other key stakeholders to outline your accomplishments and experience during the internship

Internship dates: 5/27/2026 - 7/31/2026


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of experience
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution (during the time of the summer program)
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3.0 minimum GPA
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills
  • Experience with digital strategy, process mapping and improvement, data analytics or similar projects
  • High degree of autonomy and bias for action
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and deliver successful outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to inform decision-making
  • Intellectually curious and strong desire to learn new skills
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal guidance and oversight
  • Ability to adapt and adjust priorities based on business needs
  • Experience leveraging AI to learn and apply new skills to solve real world problems
  • Pursuing a degree in business, finance, economics, engineering or related fields
