Responsibilities

The Facility Services Extern Position provides hands-on learning of various components necessary to maintain building and equipment that are critical to providing an appropriate healthcare environment for Oklahoma Heart Hospital Patients, Staff and Visitors.  The student will be emersed into requirements for daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic preventive maintenance and facility operations in a teamed environment with an observe, participate, initiate methodology.  The student will gain familiarity with local, state, and federal operational requirements specific to Healthcare Facility Management.  The student will be under the direct supervision of experienced Healthcare Facility staff.  The student direct reports to the Manager of Facilities with oversight from the Director of Facilities.  The student will perform all work with accord to the mission, vision, and values of the Oklahoma Heart Hospital.

 

Extern Responsibilities:

  • Complete Weekly Performance Report Form and submit to assigned school Externship Advisor.
  • Prepare and write final externship report that will include feedback on learning experience at OHH, and how this opportunity helped broaden knowledge and skills required in healthcare facility management.
  • OHH Facilities Management will complete and provide to the student a signed Employer Externship-Evaluation Form and Final Employer Evaluation of Student-Extern Form will be sent to the internship advisor a minimum of 3 days prior to the end of the externship period (16 weeks).

Qualifications

Qualifications / Specifications:  Must be an enrolled student at an affiliated technology school with school and appropriate externship advisor permission to participate in the Extern Program at Oklahoma Heart Hospital.

Education:  High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: No prior Facilities experience required.
