About The Company
Cells are the basic unit of life. They power everything we do, and unlocking their secrets is the key to advancing our knowledge of every facet of biology, from development to disease. Our single cell, spatial, and in situ tools enable researchers to answer pressing questions about cells and their functional contributions to oncology, immunology, neuroscience, and much more—as evidenced by more than 5,500 publications citing our technology. We are dedicated to building the best products, delivering the best customer experience, and creating the best team to fuel new scientific discovery, no matter how challenging. And we won’t stop until all of the cells’ secrets are revealed.
About the Role

We are seeking a Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering Intern to join the Manufacturing Systems Engineering department for the Summer of 2026. The Manufacturing Systems Engineering group designs and implements equipment for the production of instruments and consumables here at the 10x manufacturing facility. In this 10-12 week internship, the intern will study the material flow and handling of all of the parts for the instrument production process. The intern will then execute on the improvements to make the manufacturing flow and handling for efficient production.

This internship offers an opportunity to learn how to lay out the workflow of a production line to increase efficiency, learn how to identify bottlenecks in a process, and learn and apply the 5S methodology. The intern will also gain experience with drafting robust work instructions and test methods, as well as develop experience in CAD software like AutoCad.

What you will be doing:

  • Study the material flow and handling of all of the parts for the Xenium instrument production process and find areas for improvement.
  • Execute on the improvements to make the manufacturing flow and handling for efficient production.
  • Collaborate with the warehouse team, manufacturing, MSE, and procurement to optimize material flow for instruments.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current student who has completed at least their second year of undergraduate degree. Ideally Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Able to commit to a full-time internship program for 10-12 weeks during summer of 2026
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
