About the Role

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Buildings Engineering team in Norfolk, VA .

 

The Mechanicaical Engineering Intern will collaborate and be mentored by top Engineering associates on our team.  The selected candidate will work with associates assisting the Norfolk Buildings Engineering Group on a variety of projects that combine innovative design concepts with a strong knowledge of technical standards to exceed client expectations and provide cost-effective solutions.  This is an amazing opportunity to gain hands on experience and a better understanding of the Buildings Engineering Industry.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine calculations requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
  • Prepare and revise plan documents details
  • Collect and prepare data for evaluation
  • Perform engineering with the use of computer-assisted engineering software and equipment
  • Provide support to engineering and project management associates

Qualifications:            

  • Current student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at an ABET-accredited university
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2.5 GPA or above
  • Prior internship or related experience
  • AutoCAD and/or Revit experience
  • Experience or exposure to building plans preparation and design standards
  • Specific interest in Building Design
