That’s the real meaning of studio-to-street: taking the consciousness from practice on the mat and putting it into practice in life.</p></div><p><strong>OVERVIEW</strong></p> <p>ALO's Digital Engineering team is looking for a highly motivated Graduate or PhD-level Intern with strong foundations in computer science and modern internet-scale systems. This role is designed for candidates who want hands-on experience building and scaling server-side systems, cloud-native services, and AI-assisted development workflows in a real-world, production environment.</p> <p>You will work closely with senior engineers on designing, developing, and optimizing distributed systems that power ALO's digital platforms.</p> <p>The ALO internship programs starts June 8th and ends July 31st. Interns will be working 40 hours a week at our Beverly Hills HQ.</p> <p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES&nbsp;</strong><em>&nbsp;</em></p> <ul> <li>Design, develop, and test server-side components and APIs</li> <li>Assist in building and scaling distributed cloud-based systems</li> <li>Collaborate with senior engineers on architecture and implementation decisions</li> <li>Apply AI-assisted coding tools to improve productivity and code quality</li> <li>Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code</li> <li>Participate in code reviews and technical discussions</li> </ul> <p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field OR PhD candidate in Computer Science or a closely related discipline</li> <li>Strong understanding of Internet fundamentals, including: <ul> <li>HTTP/HTTPS</li> <li>RESTful APIs</li> <li>Web protocols and networking basics</li> </ul> </li> <li>Solid experience with server-side programming</li> <li>Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as: <ul> <li>Java (preferred)</li> <li>Python</li> <li>Go</li> <li>C++</li> </ul> </li> <li>Strong conceptual understanding of: <ul> <li>Distributed systems</li> <li>Concurrency and scalability</li> <li>Fault tolerance and system reliability</li> </ul> </li> <li>Working knowledge of cloud architecture, with emphasis on AWS, including services such as: <ul> <li>EC2, S3, RDS/DynamoDB</li> <li>Lambda</li> <li>API Gateway</li> <li>IAM, VPC (conceptual understanding acceptable)</li> </ul> </li> <li>Exposure to AI/ML-assisted development, including: <ul> <li>Using AI tools for code generation, refactoring, or testing</li> <li>Understanding strengths and limitations of AI-generated code</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p> <ul> <li>Hands-on experience building or deploying cloud-native applications</li> <li>Familiarity with: <ul> <li>Microservices architecture</li> <li>Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes – a plus)</li> </ul> </li> <li>Experience working with: <ul> <li>Version control systems (Git)</li> <li>CI/CD pipelines</li> </ul> </li> <li>Coursework or research in: <ul> <li>Distributed computing</li> <li>Cloud systems</li> <li>Machine learning or applied AI</li> </ul> </li> <li>Strong problem-solving skills and ability to reason about system design trade-offs</li> </ul> <p><strong>WHAT YOU'LL GAIN</strong></p> <ul> <li>Hands-on experience with production-scale systems</li> <li>Exposure to modern cloud architecture on AWS</li> <li>Practical application of AI/ML tools in software development</li> <li>Mentorship from experienced engineers in a fast-paced digital team</li> <li>Opportunity to make real impact on ALO’s digital platforms</li> </ul> <p class="p1">The base pay range for this position is $45/hr-$50/hr which represents the current range for the non-exempt position.
