Position Summary 

The Customs Intern’s primary function is to assign and confirm trade data elements required for complete, timely, and accurate customs declarations to US Customs and Border Protection. Intern will also assist T1 Finance in ensuring duty and tariff liability is calculated correctly and tendered timely.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assign and confirm HTS classification according to product specifications, origin, and programs administered by the USG
  • Audit customs declarations for correctness
  • Maintain customs documents according to CBP recordkeeping requirements   
  • Assist Finance in reconciling import costs and ACH monthly draws

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Completion of 100 hours towards a degree in supply chain management or finance
  • Must be an effective communicator 
  • Capable of multitasking and prioritizing with strong time management and organization skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

  • Intern’s responsibilities necessitate sitting for prolonged periods while working on a personal computer
  • Intern will work in an indoor, open office environment that can get noisy due to close proximity of other office mates
