We are licensed as a Child Placing Agency by the Texas Department of Family Protective Services. We recruit and support families who care for children who are placed in foster care. We also help children who are available for adoption to be matched with loving, nurturing families who are eligible to adopt them. CK Family Services is the DFPS Post Adoption Service Provider for 19 counties including and surrounding Dallas and Tarrant. CK Family Services operates CK Behavioral Health a program that provides children, adolescents and young adults with mental health rehabilitation and targeted case management services.

Candidates from anywhere in the metroplex can apply to work in the area surrounding where they live. This opportunity is for current graduate students looking for an internship placement site where they can make a difference in the lives of children and families. The internship is a clinical role with CK’s Behavioral Health department doing behavioral intervention and some case management with clients. CK provides students with an extensive 2-week training program before they begin working with clients. For the sake of consistency with our clients, we only accept students who are looking for an internship that will last 2 or more semesters. We also do not accept undergraduate students. The internship is a clinical role with CK’s Behavioral Health department doing behavioral intervention and some case management with clients. CK provides students with an extensive 2-week training program before they begin working with clients. For the sake of consistency with our clients, we only accept students who are looking for an internship that will last 2 or more semesters. We also do not accept undergraduate students.   General Responsibilities    Attend initial training for 2 weeks during normal business hours 9am-5pm. There is some minimal flexibility to work with student’s work and school schedules. Provide curriculum based rehabilitative mental health services to families, individuals and groups. Complete all documentation in a timely and accurate manner. Attend Team, Individual, and Training Meetings. Attend weekly supervision meeting with field instructor. Maintain professional behavior at all times as a representative of CK Family Services. Perform duties without violation of any ethical standards, state or federal codes, or agency requirements. QualificationsQualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related field as specified in the Texas Administrative Code for QMHP qualifications. Must possess basic therapeutic skills. Excellent organizational and follow-up skills. Most have a personal computer to complete tasks. Proficient in basic computer skills that include but are not limited to data entry, MS Office, jobsite portals and company software. Must have reliable transportation. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with a variety of people Strong desire to work as a team with a results-driven approach. Demonstrated ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Ability work effectively under stress and remain flexible in changing situations. Perform the physical demands of the position – Ability to use up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people; Ability to step backwards, grasp, bend at the waist and knees, lower 30-50 pounds to the ground, be able to get up and down from the floor without assistance, exhibit full range of motion in both arms and legs, and be able to do a deep, reverse lunge (SAMA Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression). Ability to walk frequently; stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; squat occasionally, climb stairs infrequently, and kneel and twist as needed. Sufficient good health to properly fulfill all role responsibilities.  Employees shall not be permitted to work who have infectious diseases or skin lesions for the duration of the communicability.
