Operating 24/7 with on-demand access, it offers personalized and efficient mobility—without the burden of heavy upfront infrastructure costs or ongoing taxpayer subsidies.</p> <p>With Glydways, we’re building more than a transportation system; we’re creating a future where everyone, everywhere, has the freedom to move.</p></div><p><strong>The Role:</strong></p> <p>As an Industrial Design Intern, you won't just be sketching <em>cool cars</em>. You will be working on a complex <em>system of systems</em>. You will contribute to the design of the Glydcar vehicle (interiors, ergonomics, and exterior form) as well as the physical touchpoints of our transit stations and guideway infrastructure.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Form Development:</strong> Generate innovative concepts that prioritize passenger comfort, accessibility (ADA compliance), and safety in an autonomous environment</li> <li><strong>Digital Modeling:</strong> Build and iterate on complex surfaces using <strong>CATIA, NX, Solidworks,</strong> or <strong>Rhino</strong> to ensure designs are production-ready. <strong>Blender</strong> and <strong>Twinmotion</strong> are a plus.</li> <li><strong>Human Factors:</strong> Conduct ergonomic studies to optimize the boarding and riding experience for a diverse range of users</li> <li><strong>Prototyping:</strong> Assist in the creation of full-scale mockups and rapid prototypes in our South SF shop to test spatial layouts and material finishes</li> <li><strong>Visualization:</strong> Produce high-fidelity renders and animations in <strong>KeyShot</strong>, <strong>VRED, or Twinmotion</strong> for investor and city-planning presentations</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Education:</strong> Currently enrolled in a BFA/BS or MFA program in Industrial Design or Transportation Design.</li> <li><strong>Software Savvy:</strong> Proficiency in 3D modeling (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks or Rhino accepted) and the Adobe Creative Suite</li> <li><strong>Maker Mindset:</strong> Experience with physical model making, 3D printing, and an understanding of manufacturing processes (composites, injection molding, etc.).</li> <li><strong>Mission-Driven: A genuine interest in sustainability, urban planning, and the future of public transportation</strong></li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h3><strong>Why Glydways?</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Work on a product that will actually hit the streets (projects currently underway in San Jose and Contra Costa)</li> <li>Collaborate with veterans from Apple, Google, Rivian, and Tesla</li> <li>Competitive intern stipend and the chance to be at the forefront of the "Climate-Tech" movement</li> </ul><div class="content-conclusion"><p>Glydways provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.</p> </div>
