AMSD develops, designs, and manufactures compound semiconductor devices, microwave/millimeter-wave integrated circuits, and modules for defense applications.</p><p></p><p>The ideal candidate for this department is interested in semiconductor MMIC technology and may be utilized in the areas of test engineering, and/or wafer fabrication and MMIC manufacturing. The candidate should have strong academic credentials and experience working in a team environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate not only academic, but also interpersonal skills to help optimize our teams. The single most important attribute is an inquisitive nature and a strong desire to learn real world applications to complement the academic experience. Familiarity with hardware or software tools as appropriate for the candidate’s academic level is expected.</p><p></p><p><b>What You Will Do</b></p><p>Some or all of the following:</p><ul><li><p>Perform fixtured and on-wafer RF/microwave/millimeter-wave measurements on GaAs and GaN devices, modules and MMICs (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits)</p></li><li><p>Assemble RF/microwave/millimeter-wave test systems</p></li><li><p>Use software to control test equipment and plot test results</p></li><li><p>Work in a cleanroom environment, handling GaAs and GaN wafers</p></li><li><p>Assist with various lithography, deposition, and etch processes</p></li><li><p>Perform and document optical microscope inspections and scanning electron microscope imaging</p></li><li><p>Failure analysis and Data analysis</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>What You Will Learn</b></p><p>Some or all of the following:</p><ul><li><p>RF/Microwave measurement techniques including wafer probing, fixtured devices, pulsed measurements</p></li><li><p>Use of test equipment such as Performance Network Analyzers (PNAs), Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), Spectrum Analyzers, Real-time Spectrum Analyzers (RSAs), Noise Figure Analyzers, Load-Pull systems etc</p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Use of software tools such as Labview, Python and Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS) to control test equipment and manipulate test date</p></li><li><p>Wafer fabrication techniques such as lithography, deposition and etc processes</p></li><li><p>Optical and scanning electron microscope imaging techniques</p></li><li><p>Data analysis and trouble-shooting techniques</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Qualifications You Must Have</b></p><ul><li><p>Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or graduate degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major.</p></li></ul><ul><li><p>This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum entering their freshman year by the start of summer 2026.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Qualifications We Prefer</b></p><ul><li><p>Experience/coursework in one or more of the following: RF/microwave, Analog, Digital Electronics, Circuit Design or Analysis, Electrical Components, Electromagnetics</p></li><li><p>Lab experience specific to RF/microwave device and circuit measurements</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of electrical circuit design, analysis and troubleshooting using common lab equipment.</p></li><li><p>Experience in semiconductor wafer processing techniques</p></li><li><p>Technical working knowledge of electronic components (e.g. semiconductor, passive and/or electromechanical) and their application.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>What We Offer</b></p><ul><li><p>Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world.
