Overview

The PPL R&D Department is looking for student interns from IT majors like computer science or data science, to begin in May 2026 who are passionate about renewable energy, including wind and solar, energy storage, green hydrogen, sustainability, carbon capture and other decarbonization technologies.

 

Ideal candidate will be based in Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, or Kentucky and would be interested in the potential of transitioning to full-time employment with PPL upon graduation.


Responsibilities

  • Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free work place.
  • Uses scientific principles to plan projects, collect and analyze data, and create professional reports.
  • Gathers, correlates, and analyzes data using established procedures.
  • Coordinates and communicates results and participation in research projects within applicable business units and prepares summaries of value and results to management.
  • Creates interactive dashboards to effectively and clearly communicate data.
  • Evaluates startup companies and R&D software for pilot projects and deployment.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or suggests improved methods.
  • Performs detailed assignments involving established calculations, tests and analysis.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management.

Qualifications

Education Requirements 

  • Available full time during the summer
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree with declared major in Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3.00  GPA
