Film & TV Content Strategy Internships: NYC - Summer 2026

Your New Role
We have multiple Film & TV Content Strategy internship opportunities available. By applying to this posting, you will be considered for multiple internship opportunities within this general area. These internships will be located in the NYC area. The selected interns will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern manager’s in office schedule.

CNN Original Series & Films Program Development Intern
CNN Program & Content Strategy Intern
HBO & HBO Max U.S. Content Inventory Planning Intern
HBO & HBO Max Content Acquisitions Intern
HBO Max Licensed Content Planning Intern
Your Role Accountabilities
Duties could include:
Provide support to linear and nonlinear programming and scheduling
Researching and tracking the competitive landscape on a weekly basis
Auditing external listings and platforms
Updating databases and documents with internal program information
Assisting in updating and checking program listings, and more
Help manage metadata for HBO’s linear and nonlinear platforms including HBO Max
Support the team with the creation of curation materials for original programming planning
Manage inventory across Airtable, tracking documents, and maintaining content trackers
Learn the behind-the-scenes of HBO’s content planning strategy and direct content scheduling
Assist the team in elevating HBO’s renowned series across both the HBO & Cinemax brands, linear channels, on-demand platforms, HBO Max, and more
Assist the team with evaluating content for potential acquisitions
Assist with data cleanup and slide building on PowerPoint for content analysis project
Ad-hoc research projects
Attend content planning meetings
Qualifications & Experience
Passionate about news/media/film/tv
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and Adobe
Extensive film/tv and/or news knowledge
Strong curiosity for content planning and scheduling process
Knowledge of CNN and/or HBO Content
Great communication skills
Enthusiastic team player
Savvy with streaming platforms
Strong organization and communication skills
Self-motivated, ability to multi-task, and a positive attitude
Ability to function well in a fast-paced, high volume environment and to follow through on given tasks
Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)
Must be a rising Junior or Senior Undergraduate student (18 years or older)
Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA) A transcript will be required to verify your GPA if an offer is extended.
Warner Bros. Discovery will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Warner Bros. Discovery now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States. Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa, including F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1, etc., will not be eligible for the internship program.
The Nice to Haves
Experience with Airtable, Scenechronize, and Smartsheet is a plus
What To Know Before Applying
The duration of the summer program regardless of which start/end option is 11 weeks.
Program date options:
Option 1: June 1st – August 14th
Option 2: June 8th – August 21st
Interns will be expected to work 35-40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity
Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided.
Interviewing will take place from mid February through early-April. A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.
On December 5, Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery announced they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Netflix will acquire Warner Bros., including its film and television studios, HBO Max and HBO. The transaction is expected to close after the separation of Warner Bros. Discovery's Global Networks division, Discovery Global, into a new publicly-traded company, which is expected to be completed in Q3 2026. Although you will be hired by Warner Bros. Discovery, upon the planned spin-off of Discovery Global in 2026, your employment likely will transition to Warner Bros. (or) transition to Discovery Global. During this period of transformation, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to lay the foundation at one of the world’s premier entertainment brands.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing compensation for roles in locations where legally required. Pay Rate: $19 per hour USD for undergrad interns, $25 per hour USD for graduate level interns.
