Project Engineer Summer Intern

<div class="content-intro"><h5 style="text-align: left;">Forgen is dedicated to building a better future - for generations.</h5></div><p><strong>Location:</strong> Rocklin, CA</p> <p><strong>Position Summary</strong></p> <p>Forgen is seeking students pursuing degrees in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; and other interested candidates to join our various project locations for internship opportunities.</p> <p>This internship applies the general knowledge of the physical sciences and mathematics underlying engineering and specialized knowledge of the mechanics of solids (particularly of soils), hydraulics, theory of structure, strength of materials, engineering geology and surveying. The Project Engineer Intern assists with the overall execution of projects in accordance with the established budget, schedule, contract plans and specifications.&nbsp; Ensure the company’s safety culture is documented, communicated, and enforced in accordance with the company’s established policies and procedures.</p> <p><strong>Forgen Overview</strong></p> <p>Forgen is a leading geotechnical and specialty civil construction company operating across North America. We are dedicated to delivering innovative solutions for complex civil, geotechnical, and environmental challenges, guided by our core values of integrity, passion, teamwork, and smart work.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li> <ul> <li>Field Tasks:</li> </ul> </li> <li>Prepare project submittals.</li> <li>Maintain project record documents.</li> <li>Perform technical review of contract plans and specifications.</li> <li>Provide oversight and documentation related to project quality control in accordance with the contract plans, specifications, and company policies and procedures.</li> <li>Prepare daily construction reports and progress tracking.</li> <li>Manage, interpret, and perform site surveying.</li> <li>Assist with the management of subcontractors.</li> <li>Assist with the procurement or rental of equipment and materials.</li> <li>Assist Project Manager with project daily cost reporting and tracking.</li> <li>Travel to project sites as necessary for extended durations. <ul> <li>Office Tasks:</li> </ul> </li> <li>Assist in the development of project cost estimates, proposals, and material take-offs.</li> <li>Perform technical analysis of the remediation methodologies of various previously remediated projects.</li> <li>Perform other administrative or office duties as required or as assigned.</li> <li>Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations.</li> <li>Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.</li> <li>Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Basic Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Candidates must be working towards a BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.</li> <li>Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive on behalf of company business.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D software.</li> <li>Experience with Primavera P6 scheduling software.</li> <li>Experience with Microsoft Project scheduling software.</li> <li>Experience with USACE QCS System.</li> <li>Experience with site surveying, both conventional and GPS.</li> <li>Assisting with the development of cost estimates and proposals.</li> <li>Prior project experience with In-Situ Stabilization.</li> <li>Prior experience with materials procurement and purchasing.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Competencies</strong></p> <ul> <li>Must be self-motivated and interested in learning all aspects of environmental and geotechnical construction.</li> <li>Problem Solving &amp; Risk Assessment: Evaluate risks and effectively resolve challenges, champion safety and deliver exceptional quality standards.</li> <li>Autonomy &amp; Prioritization: Self-motivated, ability to work independently, prioritize and meet deadlines.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Physical Demands &amp; Work Environment</strong></p> <p>This office and field hybrid role requires frequent computer use and effective communication. Site work may involve extended periods of standing or walking and required PPE, with potential exposure to heavy equipment, chemicals, dust, fumes, uneven terrain, and extreme weather.</p> <p>This job description outlines the general scope of work and is not exhaustive.
