Job Summary:
We are looking for a motivated engineering intern to assist in developing and testing power system models for real-time simulation and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing. The intern will contribute towards creating dynamic models of electrical networks, integrating protection and control schemes, and performing Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing. This role provides hands-on experience with advanced simulation tools and real-time testing methodologies used in modern power systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn basic usage of the RTDS Simulator.
- Assist in creating a real-time power system models and controls in the RTDS.
- Support the integration of either simulated or physical protection and control systems
- Participate in executing test scenarios to validate control strategies and system behavior.
- Document test cases and prepare example simulations for demonstration purposes.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Completed at least two years of study in Electrical engineering
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits is required.
- Completed coursework in power systems, electrical machines, or control systems is an asset.
- Experience with programs such as PSCAD, RSCAD, and/or Simulink preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
