Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Join us for an exciting summer!  We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Polymers team as an intern.

 

As a Polymers intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting workplace organization, safety, and production operations within an injection molding environment. This role offers exposure to 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles, machine operations, and continuous improvement initiatives while working closely with technicians and production teams.

 

In this role, you will support 5S implementation across injection molding production and tooling areas, assist with machine setup and mold changeovers, and contribute to projects focused on visual management, storage improvements, and standardized work practices. You will also participate in safety training, documentation efforts, and ongoing improvement activities that support efficient and safe manufacturing operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support implementation of 5S in injection molding production and tooling areas
  • Assist senior technicians during machine setups, mold changeovers, and production runs
  • Learn and apply standard operating procedures (SOPs) for machine operation, mold setup, and material handling
  • Attend safety and operational training related to injection molding machines and mold handling
  • Assist with cleaning, inspection, and housekeeping of machines, molds, and work areas
  • Contribute to projects such as end-of-arm tool storage improvements and visual management initiatives

 

Internship Goals:

  • Develop an understanding of 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Gain exposure to injection molding shop operations
  • Strengthen awareness of workplace safety and organization
  • Build teamwork and communication skills in a manufacturing setting
