Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Join us for an exciting summer!  We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Battery Assembly team as a Battery Intern.

As a Battery intern, you will be exposed to hands-on continuous improvement, data analysis, and production support initiatives within a manufacturing environment. This role offers the opportunity to apply engineering and analytical tools to real-world production challenges, supporting efficiency, material flow optimization, and scrap reduction efforts.

In this role, you will support process improvement projects through fixture design, data-driven analysis, and on-the-floor process observation. You will work with production and engineering teams to evaluate material flow, develop KPI reporting, analyze scrap data, and help identify practical solutions that improve efficiency, ergonomics, and cost performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support process improvement initiatives aimed at improving production flow, ergonomics, and efficiency
  • Design new fixtures or improve existing fixtures using SolidWorks
  • Utilize 3D printing to create tools or fixtures that support process and ergonomic improvements
  • Spend time on the production floor reviewing processes and identifying cost reduction and improvement opportunities
  • Evaluate material flow processes to identify streamlining opportunities
  • Review negative inventory reports to better understand material movement and improvement opportunities
  • Identify bottlenecks on the production floor and evaluate opportunities to improve material flow and presentation
  • Collect, analyze, and evaluate scrap data using systems such as SAP, Ignition, and SPDM
  • Analyze scrap trends and identify top drivers of scrap generation
  • Collaborate with production teams to understand root causes and support solutions to reduce scrap

Internship Goals:

  • Learn how battery packs and related components are assembled, tested, and integrated within a manufacturing environment.
  • Learning and understanding the logistics of material flow.
  • Learn to develop and maintain reports and dashboards using Power BI or similar tools to track daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs that support data-driven decision-making.
