Overview of Role

Reporting to the Performance Fit Lab Researcher, this role will work with researchers in the Performance Fit Lab (PFL) to provide participants with a great experience during their visit and collect and analyze biomechanical data. The PFL operates within the Product Development department and helps in delivering best in class product, specifically in efficacy of our benefits: Stability & Control, Power Transfer, and Energy Efficiency. This role will bring a curiosity and rigor to their work that assists us in developing, executing, and growing the PFL.

 

This internship is based in Denver, CO with a start date in May or June, and a length of 12 weeks.

Core Responsibilities

  • Reflect and role model BOA’s vision, values and Leadership Model and demonstrate passion for our mission across the PFL team and rest of the organization
  • Assist researchers in collecting and analyzing biomechanical data inside the laboratory and out in the field (using 3D motion capture, IMUs, pressure insoles, etc.)
  • Make research participants feel comfortable in the lab, motivating them to push to their limits
  • Discuss quantitative and qualitative findings with various other departments within the company
  • Develop your understanding and knowledge of biomechanics through a focus on performance fit

 

Required Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in or recent completion of Bachelor or Master of Science degree in biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise science, engineering, or other related discipline
  • 6 months of hands-on research in biomechanics
  • 6 months experience collecting and analyzing 3D motion capture, force, pressure, and other time-series data
  • Familiarity and a desire to work with R and Python (you do not need to be an expert but must have a strong desire to learn)
  • The ability to collaborate and build relationships with diverse groups of people
  • A passion for continuously learning and seeking out new approaches

 

Desired Qualifications

  • General knowledge of footwear design and application with respect to athletes
  • An interest in quantifying athletic performance
