About the Role

Intern, Financial Accounting and Control

Position Summary

London Stock Exchange Group’s Business Services arm supports multiple legal entities located globally enabling you to practice your financial knowledge and skills in a professional setting. The Intern-Financial Reporting and Control will be assigned to a team lead, where they will assist to prepare, develop, and analyse financial information, enabling the senior management to make well-informed decisions, leading to future stability, growth, and profitability. The candidate will have the opportunity to understand the overall business model of the company focusing on core accounting skills, working across different business divisions to support the whole organisation. The intern will be rotated through our divisions of responsibility for more learning opportunity, and they will become proficient on premier software systems. You will appreciate the very well-structured operating processes and the hands-on application of finance principles in a fast-paced work environment.

Role Responsibilities

  • Perform accounting transactions in the general ledger, sub-ledgers and reporting modules, including collecting, recording, and verifying financial data.
  • Shadowing members of the team as they perform their duties and support them on daily activities.
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and validations.
  • Ensures adherence to group reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Work together in identification and support of continuous improvement activities.
  • Assistance may be required in the preparation of monthly or weekly financial reports.
  • Develop and use spreadsheets, databases, and other reports. 

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Pursuing a Finance degree/professional qualification (ACA/CIMA/ACCA).
  • Good knowledge on accounting concepts and principles.
  • Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with global colleagues.
  • Willingness to adapt and learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication that resonates with the target audience.
  • Take on responsibility and sense of partnership.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy oriented.
  • Ability to work according to UK work hours.
  • Planning and prioritizing according to business needs.
