Electrical Engineering Intern (Summer 2026) - NJ

(OPT) provides intelligent maritime solutions and services that enable safer, cleaner, and more productive ocean operations for the defense and security, oil and gas, science and research, and offshore wind markets, including Merrows™, which provides AI-capable seamless integration of Maritime Domain Awareness Systems across platforms. Our PowerBuoy® platforms provide clean and reliable electric power and real-time data communications for remote maritime and subsea applications. We also provide WAM-V® unmanned surface vehicles (USV’s) and marine robotics services. The Company’s headquarters is located in Monroe Township, New Jersey with an additional office in Richmond, California.

The Role:

The Electrical Engineering Intern will support the engineering team in the electrical design and verification testing of OPT products and systems.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the generation and review of schematics, BOMS, and test plans.
  • Help set up test equipment, support testing and data collection.
  • Build and test prototype electronics.
  • Prepare technical reports to document the methodology and results of work performed.
  • Assist with departmental documentation and administrative projects. 
  • Perform other tasks as required. 

Qualifications:

  • Junior or Senior status in a 4-year university pursuing an Electrical/Computer Engineering degree. 
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team setting.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills. 
  • Experience with electrical assembly, building and testing circuits.
  • Experience with developing test plans, conducting lab testing, and analyzing and presenting results. 
  • Experience with programming languages (C, C++, and Python), and /or firmware development for embedded control systems a plus.
  • Familiarity with Orcad and Altium for schematics and PCB layout a plus.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Hourly rate is $23.00 and includes the following for eligible employees:
