How you'll make an impact

As a Graduate Reinsurance Broker, you will be working within the wider Broking Team of Gallagher Re Singapore, the regional reinsurance hub for South East Asia, Korea & Taiwan. This role aims to provide our clients, insurance companies, with the best analysis and solutions for their own insurance needs. This position will provide you with exposure to multiple lines of business, including Property, Casualty, Personal Accident, Motor and Marine. In this role you will not only learn the technical aspects of reinsurance, but also gain insight from our experts on how negotiations are conducted, and deals are closed with the reinsurance market. 

 

The role will require engagement in individual account planning processes, including exposure and coordination with our specialized teams:

  • Financial Modelling
  • Catastrophe Modelling
  • Strategic Financial Analytics
  • Placement Support
  • Claims Management

Details around your tenure with our organization and team broadens across the above teams. Assignment to a set of Client Centric Teams (CCT) involved in South East Asia, Korea & Taiwan. Working alongside Client Advocates (CA) across:

 

  • Strategy Development
    • Working together with the CCT to help identify client and portfolio motivations and design and execute a proposition to address those motivations
    • Understanding of client strategies and translating these into Engagement Plans
    • Working with CA to seek opportunities to streamline renewal processes within the CCT team
  • Portfolio Development
    • Engage in structured process for individual account planning, including the following:
      • Understanding client motivation
      • Reinsurance optimisation process (Gallagher iFM)
      • Catastrophe Modelling runs and outputs
      • Pricing analysis for each proposal
    • Preparation of client pre-renewal submission, bringing together proposition for the specific opportunity
    • Preparation and analysis of opportunities; benchmarking, market analysis, problem-solving, idea generation
  • Relationship Development
    • Building a collaborative relationship with CCT in tandem with market changes and client needs
    • Working together with the broader specialized team in addressing client needs
    • Involvement in servicing of clients account throughout internship duration

Bachelors Degree required

  • A team player who enjoys communication and problem solving in an unstructured environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in analytics and economics preferred
  • Excel capability and strong (succinct) report writing capability using both Word and Powerpoint
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner
  • Ability to ask the right questions and seek help where appropriate
  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues
  • Interest and ability to think beyond the task at hand and understand how one’s work fits into the broader landscape
