OVERVIEW

As Finance Intern, you will play a supporting role within the finance team, assisting with and learning about financial systems, reporting, and operational tasks as part of the broader global finance operations.  

Your role involves assisting with month-end closures, member accounting, finance systems tickets, audits, and supporting finance projects to ensure accurate and timely reporting. The priority for this role is supporting the team in delivering accurate financial data and reports to support decision-making and operational excellence. 

You will work within finance, working closely with the different team members within the team. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Reporting & Systems Support 

  • Assist with month-end financial reports  
  • Post journal entries  
  • Help with accounts payable and bank statement reconciliation  
  • Assist with audits  
  • Balance sheet reconciliation  
  • Matching Sales and Cost of Sales 
  • Support the payment processing team  
  • Assist Lifestyle Financial Accountant with tagging and journal preparation 
  • Data entry 
  • Support finance systems team with routine queries and ad-hoc team support and projects 
  • Be contact point for business with regards to accounts payable and other internal finance queries 

Other Responsibilities 

  • Supporting Finance on projects and tasks 
  • Supporting Ops teams by providing necessary reports and analysis 
  • Any other tasks and projects required by the wider finance team, on an ad-hoc basis 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:   

  • Recently graduated or studies in progress 
  • BCom or National Diploma in Accounting or Finance beneficial 

ROLE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:  

  • Passion for automation and building efficient processes 
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings effectively to non-financial stakeholders 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including procurement, sales, and engineering 
  • Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel skills 
  • Power Query knowledge beneficial 
  • Strong ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to upholding the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality in financial matters 
  • Self-motivation, excellent communication, teamworking, and interpersonal skills 
  • An analytical mind, keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data 
  • Deliver to tight deadlines, for example, month end closures 
  • Knowledge of financial systems in particular Microsoft Dynamics Business Central General Ledger (Previously Navision) advantageous but not essential 

Guidelines for Hybrid/Home Office:

  • We are ideally seeking exceptional candidates to be based in Cape Town who are able to commute to the office at least 2 days a week.
  • A secure home office at your confirmed address, free from background noise or other distractions when working remotely
  • Internet service must meet minimum requirements and minimum speed check must be completed
