Topic: Sustainable Automotive Front Lighting Design – Development of a Technical Mechanical Concept Based on Future Requirements

Description:
The automotive industry faces the challenge of developing innovative and sustainable solutions for vehicle components. A key element is front lighting, which is not only safety-relevant but also a defining design feature. The aim of this thesis is to develop a sustainable front lighting concept, taking into account ecological, technological, and market-relevant aspects.

Focus Areas of the Thesis:
1. Market Trends
    Analysis of current design trends and customer requirements in the premium and volume segments. Additional analysis of supplier technology trends and their impact.
    Evaluation of regulatory requirements (e.g., EU Vehicle End-of-Life Regulation).
2. Technology Considerations:
    Analysis of current and future lighting, material, and production technologies (including recycled materials, MUCELL).
    Evaluation of energy efficiency and material usage.
3. CO₂ Calculations:
    Determination of the CO₂ footprint for various materials and manufacturing processes (in collaboration with experts).
    Comparison of recycling and circular economy approaches.
4. Mechanical Design:
    Development of a concept design for a sustainable front lamp.
    Consideration of lightweight construction, modularity, and repairability.
Objective:
Creation of an innovative, sustainable front lamp concept that combines technological feasibility, CO₂ optimization, and market-oriented design.

Student Requirements:
    Studies in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, industrial design, sustainability management, or a related field.

Technical Skills:
    Basic knowledge of lighting technology, materials, and/or electrical systems.
    Experience with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks).
    Basic knowledge of materials science and manufacturing technologies.

Analytical skills (desirable):
    Understanding of life cycle assessment and CO₂ calculations.
    Ability to analyze markets and interpret trends.

Soft skills:
    Creativity and innovative thinking for concept development.
    Independent work style and project management skills.
    Good communication skills for presentations and documentation.

Language skills:
