Core Responsibilities
The intern will contribute to creating an aircraft design tool from first principles by researching, developing, and disseminating information, and will be responsible for identifying tool capabilities and preparing a development plan including architecture. Responsibilities also involve coding portions of the tool and utilizing existing protocols to enhance analysis tools in software like CATIA V5 or Siemens NX combined with Star CCM+.

Our team… 
The Advanced Design group leads the conceptual studies and preliminary design of all new products at Bombardier. The team is also heavily involved in research projects covering various new technologies that will shape the future of aerospace.

During your internship, you will contribute to:
•    Researching, understanding, developing, and disseminating information to help create an aircraft design tool from first principles; facilitating analysis of airframe and engine ingestion of foreign objects. 
•    Identifying capabilities, features and requirements of the future tool.
•    Preparing a development plan, including the tool architecture. 
•    Coding various portions of the tool. 
•    Utilizing existing protocols used by other departments to enhance analysis tools in either CATIA V5 or Siemens NX with the combination of Star CCM+, and other software.
•    Generating a test and validation plan for the tool and subsequent project derivatives. 

During your internship, you will learn:
•    To use different technical software (CATIA, NX, Star CCM+, etc.), programming languages, scripting tools and development environments. 
•    How to participate in the early phases of the development of new aircraft concepts. 
•    To work as a cohesive team with experts from different technical disciplines.

What we are looking for:
•    You are well versed in Aircraft Conceptual Integration.
•    You are well versed in 3D & 2D modeling and CAD programming.
•    You are well versed in MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
•    Experience in Catia V5 and/or Siemens NX is essential, along with knowledge of parametric modeling. VBA and macro programing is an asset.
•    Programming experience is essential; such as Python, C#, C++, Visual Basic or Java.
•    Experience with Star CCM+ is an asset.

It is important to note that our internship opportunities are open to students only, not new graduates. All our interns may be required to occasionally travel outside of Canada for training/work purpose.
