About the Role

Your mission

Management, maintenance, updating and monitoring of the company's Compliance program, governance, and internal records. Management of risk analysis procedures with counterparties, both internal and external to the company. Development, delivery, and monitoring of Compliance training courses.

What do we need your help with?

  • Culture and Messaging: Prepare, develop and share communications on the importance of the Compliance Policy Framework; requesting to sign off by employees on having read, understood and their adherence to the compliance policies.
  • Oversight: Prepare and submit the Quarterly Compliance Reports. Undertake quarterly meetings as a forum for close oversight and cooperation on compliance matters.
  • Risk Assessment: Carry out updates identifying any key legal and regulatory changes, proposals, and hot topics, relevant to Elawan. Review and update inventory of applicable laws and industry regulations for Elawan. Conduct and submit the Annual Compliance Risk Assessment.
  • Written Policies, Procedures and Internal Controls: Annual review and update of Compliance Manual against evolving risk and changes in the business and laws and regulations. Drafting and implementation of policies and procedures based on the prevention and mitigation of risks in the group.
  • Education and Communication: Identify, design, draft and delivery of the necessary training for all employees aligned with the inclusion of policies and procedures in the group. Undertake employee training on relevant compliance topic, whether e-learning, in-person presentation or otherwise to Elawan teams.
  • Incentives and Discipline: Ensure manager conducting performance reviews are made aware of any relevant compliance violations to be made part of annual appraisal cycle and remind them to make compliance adherence a factor for objective setting. Perform monitoring of adherence by employees to training requirements, as applicable in any quarter (verifying completion of requisite training courses by all employees).
  • Business Partners' Due Diligence: conducting and documenting background checks on Business Partners, broadly defined to include agents’ consultants, distributors, vendors, suppliers, joint venture, and consortium partners disqualifying Business Partners if potential Compliance Risks are identified.
  • Maintaining Accurate Books and Records: Perform monthly review of records on Compliance Logbook to ensure maintained up to date (follow-up on any incomplete entries).
  • Other tasks: Managing and responding to the KYC requirements of the financial institutions and external companies we work with. Management of the company's internal sensitive information, delimiting the guidelines for the treatment of this information. Control and management of incidents received through the different communication and complaint channels established in the group, aligned with the group's whistleblower channel and hotline policy. Coordinate with external intellectual property counsel to register Elawan Energy’s trademark at the international level.


Your profile

Education: Bachelor’s degree in law or related field. A postgraduate degree in Corporate Compliance, business law, commercial law or equivalent is highly desirable.
Professional Experience: 0-1 year of experience.
Other Values: Knowledge of documentation management and Compliance legal frames. English and Spanish (full professional proficiency). Additional languages (French/Portuguese) are a plus.
Desired Knowledge: Ms Excel, World-check tools (Refinitiv, Dow Jones, GRC), Ms Power Point, Ms Word Database management.
