About the Role
<p>Civil Science is currently seeking a motivated <strong>Material Testing Intern</strong> for Summer 2026 who holds a <strong>WAQTC (Western Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction) certification</strong>. This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in construction materials testing while working alongside industry professionals in a dynamic environment. You will play a vital role in the success of the firm and its various roadway related construction projects. This exciting intern opportunity is based out of Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and/or Twin Falls, Idaho.</p>
<p><strong><u>Requirements </u></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Perform field and laboratory testing on construction materials (e.g., soil, asphalt, concrete, and aggregates) in accordance with WAQTC standards.</li>
<li>Assist in sample collection, preparation, and analysis for quality control and assurance.</li>
<li>Document and report test results accurately.</li>
<li>Support engineers and technicians in evaluating material performance.</li>
<li>Follow safety protocols and industry best practices in a laboratory and field setting.</li>
<li>Maintain and calibrate testing equipment as needed.</li>
<li>Prior experience with construction materials testing in either a field or lab setting</li>
<li>Preference will be given to candidates who have:</li>
<ul>
<li>WAQTC Certification</li>
<li>IQP Certification</li>
</ul>
<li>Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass both a criminal background check and driving record review</li>

<p><strong>Physical Requirements</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.</li>
<li>Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at times.</li>
<li>Must be able to work on active construction sites, which may include uneven terrain, exposure to varying weather conditions, and moderate to high noise levels.</li>
<li>Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.</li>
