About the Role

American Lumber is looking for an Instructional Design Intern to support our Learning & Development Specialist. In this role, you will assist with creating, digitizing, and standardizing training materials for both corporate and manufacturing plant employees. You will also contribute to culture change initiatives that reinforce organizational values and desired behaviors across the organization.

This internship is designed for students seeking hands‑on experience during the Spring semester, with the opportunity to continue in a full‑time intern capacity during the Summer!

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with converting classroom‑based and paper‑based training materials into engaging digital learning content and job aids
  • Reformat role‑specific training materials into a standardized training manual format
  • Support the organization, review, and maintenance of training documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency across corporate and plant locations
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts in both corporate functions and manufacturing operations to gather information and validate training content
  • Contribute to culture change projects by helping develop training materials, communication tools, and engagement resources that reinforce organizational values

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Communications, or a related field
  • Strong written communication and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to follow established templates, standards, and SOPs
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both corporate and manufacturing teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Preferred: Experience with training development or eLearning creation tools (e.g., Canva, HeyGen, Articulate, or similar platforms)

Why Join American Lumber?

  • Gain real‑world experience supporting training and culture initiatives across corporate and manufacturing environments
  • Build practical instructional design and training documentation skills
  • Work closely with Learning & Development and operational subject matter experts
  • Opportunity to extend the internship into a full‑time role during the summer
