About the Role

The Financial Data Engineering Intern will have a the ability to work independently either as a leader of a project or member of a larger team. The Financial Data Engineering Intern will be responsible for the building detailed cost models incorporating labor, materials, energy consumption, equipment depreciation, overhead, and other relevant costing components in support of Accounting, R&D, and Manufacturing project initiatives. The ability to plan and conduct independent research and to stimulate and support the work of staff professionals is required.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

·   Build detailed cost models for the research and development department by incorporating relevant costing components

·   Map process workflows and identify cost drivers across manufacturing stages

·   Benchmark internal and external cost assumptions to support model validation 

·   Document model structure, formulas, assumptions, datasets, and revision history

·   Generates technical reports  

·   Prepare and deliver a final presentation summarizing findings, methodology, and recommendations to Accounting and R&D leadership

·   Gathers and interprets data. Uses knowledge and understanding of the R&D/Mfg. equipment

·   Leads, plans, conducts, schedules, and coordinates projects

REQUIREMENTS

Required Skills:

·   Strong proficiency in:  Python (data analysis, scripting); Excel (advanced functions, modeling)

·   Ability to program cost models per standard accounting practices

·   Strong problem-solving skills

·   Mapping workflow processes

·   Competent in data analysis

·   Competent in the use of Microsoft Office

·   Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Required Experience:

·  Junior or Senior in College

Education Requirements:

Working towards a BS Degree (Junior or Senior)
