About The Company
Summer Consultants, Inc. is a Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEP/FP) engineering, commissioning, and architecture design and consulting firm. We are a small business specializing in the repair, renovation and rehabilitation of federal, institutional, higher education, and historic facilities. We are the prime consultant on nearly 80% of our projects, and we are experienced with leading multi-discipline A/E teams. Every project requires a tailored solution. Our engineers and architects design “on-site, in the field,” developing creative options to meet project challenges and needs. We design with long-term sustainability in mind, focusing not only on high efficiency, but also system maintainability. Our experience includes: • Repairs, renovations and additions • New construction • Historic preservation • Sustainable design including LEED Gold and Silver buildings • Building Information Modeling (BIM) • Project management Whether we are working in older utility tunnels and mechanical rooms, updating historic facilities, reconfiguring an office space, or designing new systems – we tackle projects that other firms struggle with. We are proud of our work providing A/E services and strive to maintain our reputation as one of the most efficient and reliable engineering firms in the business.
About the Role

Description

When you walk into a building do you immediately start analyzing it? Do you wonder about the heating, ventilating and air conditioning and plumbing systems? Well, so do we. We are looking for some passionate interns to join our team of folks who are curious about building systems.

The bulk of our projects are renovations, frequently of only the MEP/FP systems, so it makes for some interesting and challenging projects. The fun of renovation work is dealing with the existing constraints imposed by the structure or building operations. We find ourselves regularly solving problems like how to make the equipment fit into an existing building or figuring out how the contractor will build your design. We are such great problem solvers that 95% of our clients would refer us to others. Clients choose us when they want the job done right the first time.

We serve our clients' missions as if they were our own, whether supporting the warfighter or our nation's finest government and educational institutions.

With our office located in the Mid-Atlantic Region, our interesting client list, and a focus on renovation, you will get to go into some interesting buildings, sometimes seeing history from the inside out. Check out our projects page for some examples of our work.
