The approximate dates of this internship is May/June 2026 to December 2026 and will be located in Orlando, FL or Glendale, CA.

What You Will Do

We are seeking a Concept Design Intern to join the team responsible for developing and communicating creative concepts and content for theme park attractions, and/or other themed entertainment venues! The Concept Design team is responsible for providing concept direction for designing show models, sets, appealing characters or scenic elements through the use of paint, sketching, storyboarding, and/or computer art. This team develops the idea beyond concept by using digital or traditional tools to articulate buildable designs, and by guiding the creative vision through production and installation.   • Provide concept design support for models, sets, animation, show, ride and scenic elements through the use of various mediums including traditional art, illustration, architecture, drawings, paint, sketches, storyboards, 2D and 3D digital design, graphics and multimedia.
  • Work on multiple projects which may include participation in brainstorming sessions for new attractions or entertainment venues.
  • Work in collaboration with other team members in developing ideas

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to communicate on the status of all assignments, to discuss illustrations at various stages of completion and to make alterations and adjustments if required
  • Strong design/illustration skills in multiple formats including character sketches, storyboards, color illustrations, POVs, presentation art, marketing materials, and aspirational pieces.
  • Experience producing illustrative work for presentations, marketing efforts, and design packages that facilitate the design/build efforts
  • Knowledge and proficiency in multiple subjects, styles and artistic media
  • Excellent creative problem-solving skills
  • Accomplished visual storytelling skills
  • Valid Driver’s License Required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Outstanding design and concept visualization skills; practical experience is preferred
  • Environmental graphic design skills - creation of signage or marquees
  • Typography skills
  • Training in arts, theater, or entertainment
  • Currently earning a degree in fine arts, theater, animation, architecture or environmental design
  • Prior Disney experience and knowledge

Education

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher attending an accredited college/university earning a degree in the arts or in a related design field

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements: 

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship 
  • Be at least 18 years of age 
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization 
  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.

  • Able to provide reliable transportation to/from work 
  • Must be fully available for the duration of the internship
  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship in Glendale, CA

The pay rate for this role in Orlando, FL or Glendale, CA is $26.50 per hour for undergraduate students and $27.50 per hour for graduate level students.
