About the Role

The Canadian Strategic Missions Corporation is a space and defence company focused on developing dual-use solutions for delivering unmatched capabilities on this planet and others. CSMC is developing a micro nuclear reactor for remote applications like the arctic, defence, and space exploration. Led by a team with a mix of entrepreneurial and institutional experience at the highest level, we are a bleeding edge company, working at the intersection of energy, geology/geophysics, health technologies, space systems, and imagineering.


We're not gonna do it alone though, and we're hiring a Summer Legal Intern. They will work directly with the CEO, COO and management. The position will support activities including but not limited to transactions, strategic partnerships, presentations, RFPs, writing market studies and reports, capital raising, government relations, and special projects. Role will involve facets of corporate law, securities law, regulatory law, employment law, and other areas.


Main Responsibilities


  • Work with Management, General Counsel and external Counsel on legal agreements
  • Write reports, studies, and white papers.
  • Support the team's proposal, grant, and RFP writing process, including writing, editing, compiling data, and creating visualizations
  • Edit and author content using a variety of authoring tools to produce reports to funders, specifications documents, procedure manuals, datasheets, user guides, process documentation and other document types as needed.
  • Identify and collect relevant technical data and compile into a standardized style for reference documentation.
  • Support CSMC's regulatory work, preparing submissions and documents for regulators.
  • Review technical content and make corrections for grammatical issues.


Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Essential


  • Bachelor's Degree, preference will be given to candidates who's education brings unique value or experience
  • Must be enrolled in law school in either 1L, 2L, or 3L.
  • Consideration will be given to Candidates with previous degrees in technical or relevant fields like engineering, sciences, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Experience drafting reports to funding or government agencies is an asset.
  • Experience with technical writing is an asset.
  • Understanding of economic impact analysis is an asset.
  • Previous experience in engineering consulting or management consulting or investment banking is highly desirable.
  • Ability to distill complex ideas into easily consumable documentation.
  • A self-starter and curious/passionate about new, innovative and cutting edge technologies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills with attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


The candidate must be a highly motivated self starter, capable of working through complex concepts. They should be capable of moving through setbacks and finding ways to persevere. Exceptional Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and communication skills are crucial.


Law students at Canadian Universities, or Canadian law students at Foreign Universities will be considered. Must be eligible to work in Canada, and able to attain appropriate security clearances requisite with an aerospace company of this type.
