Internships offer invaluable hands-on experience to enhance your knowledge and understanding of your chosen career path. At Shive-Hattery, you’ll be treated as a full-time staff member with access to the same opportunities for learning and growth. You’ll work on active IT projects, where your contributions will directly impact our user base at Shive-Hattery. This experience will help expand your professional skill set and strengthen your portfolio, setting you up for future success.


As an intern, you will be paired with a mid-to-senior level employee who will serve as your mentor. This mentor/mentee relationship is designed to foster a supportive environment where you can candidly discuss your career goals and aspirations. Our one-on-one informal mentoring approach fosters the development of professional relationships that complement your academic learning, enriching your overall internship experience.


As an IT support intern you will work on a variety of project types including computer refreshes, software and hardware repair, and basic systems support. These experiences will provide insights into the profession, collaborative teamwork, and serving the needs of our users.


Requirements

  • Active interest in IT systems.
  • Currently studying Computer Science or an IT-Related Degree a plus.
  • Ability to get to and from the Shive-Hattery office in Des Moines, Iowa for scheduled shifts.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift/move computer towers as necessary for deployment related tasks, including getting under desks.
