Position Overview

We are seeking a 3rd- or 4th‑year Mechanical Engineering Co‑op Student to support the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems used throughout the aquaculture industry. This role offers hands‑on experience with pressure systems, prototype development, and marine field applications.

You will work with an experienced team of engineers on both new product development and enhancement of existing systems.

Term: 8 months preferred
Start Date: May 2026, Summer/Fall
Location: Campbell River, BC

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to mechanical design of aquaculture equipment, including oxygenation systems, compressors, piping assemblies
  • Perform 3D modeling, drafting, material selection, and component design.
  • Support prototype fabrication, testing, and validation activities.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, calculation packages, and Bills of Materials.
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and field testing on marine sites (as required).
  • Participate in the full product development cycle from concept → prototype → field deployment.

Skills Needed to Be Successful

  • 3rd- or 4th‑year Mechanical Engineering student.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design.
  • Hands‑on ability in prototyping, assembly, fabrication, or testing.
  • Strong analytical ability and problem‑solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in a mixed environment of office, workshop, and marine field sites.
