About the Role

 

Job Summary

Americas Residential, a division of ASSA ABLOY is seeking a highly motivated Software Product Management Intern to work in our headquarter office in Lake Forest, CA. This role will offer you the opportunity to be a part of a global company and a market leader in faucets, fixtures and locks.

 

The Software Product Management Intern will support the product team in delivering high‑quality software for consumer electronics, specifically smart lock products. The role involves gathering and organizing requirements, maintaining product documentation, supporting roadmap planning, and contributing to daily product development activities. The intern will gain hands-on experience with product management methodologies, cross‑functional collaboration, and smart home technologies. Must be available to work onsite in our Lake Forest office 3 days a week for our hybrid schedule – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Will be remote Mondays and Fridays.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Capture, organize, and clearly document software requirements to support roadmap planning.
  • Draft, update, and manage product documentation including user guides, FAQs, and release notes.
  • Contribute to the App, Cloud, and Firmware release support activities.
  • Evaluate user feedback and compile comprehensive insights and reports to identify areas of improvement.
  • Support product roadmap creation and alignment with business objectives and data insights.
  • Manage workflows and tasks using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Miro, FigJam, and AI platforms.
  • Conduct user testing and analysis on mobile apps, web portal, and firmware interactions to suggest improvements.

 

Education and Experience

 

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, or a related field with a Computer Science background.
  • Hands‑on exposure to consumer electronics or smart home technologies is preferred.
  • Familiarity with mobile apps and web portal functionality.
  • Experience or coursework involving data analysis, analytics tools, or research methods is preferred.

 

Required Skills

  • Strong sense of ownership, initiative, and accountability.
  • Ability to contribute to and independently lead small projects with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and present insights clearly.
  • Curious, proactive learner with a problem‑solving mindset.
  • Understanding of software requirements and roadmap planning frameworks.
  • Proficiency with Jira, Product discovery, Confluence, Miro, FigJam, and AI‑based productivity tools.
  • Good working knowledge with computer systems, applications, and collaborative platforms.

 

Work Environment

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Hybrid work in our Lake Forest Headquarter office at least 3 days/week.
