Job Title:  Environmental Health & Safety Intern

Job Location: Herndon, VA

Job Description:

• Participates and supports the development, implementation and maintenance of an Environmental Health and Safety Management System that conforms to internal and external standards and requirements
• Develops and deploys programs for the prevention and control of environmental risks, including compliance with air permits, construction permits, solid and hazardous wastes, wastewater operations, release notifications and all environmental reporting requirements
• Conducts site wide environmental, health and safety audits. Analyzes and interprets results, recommends appropriate corrective actions, communicates results and follows up on issues or concerns through completion
• Ensures all environmental, health and safety incidents are promptly reported
• Participates in review and approval of operations/facilities projects that involve proposed modification of any existing process, equipment or material as well as proposed introduction of any new process, equipment or material to ensure compliance with all general safety and environmental rules.
• Leads Sustainabiliy efforts in reduction of green house gas emissions and water usage as well as increasing participation in recycling programs
• Manages site hazardous waste, ensures required compliance records are maintained, completes required reporting, and submits forms in a timely and complete manner to Municipal and/or State agencies

Qualifications:

• To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a Bachelors degree in related Occupational Safety, Health or Environmental, field.

Preferred Skills: 

• Experience in identifying workplace hazards and implementing corrective measures.
• ASP/CSP or CHMM a plus
• Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent and effective written/verbal communication and organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to work on multiple projects at one time, maintain flexibility, and work independently
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products at an advanced level

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is [$25.00 MIN -$47.50 MAX]. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont is [$22.00 MIN - $40.50 MAX].. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
