About the Role

General Summary: The Engineering Intern supports the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering teams in the design, documentation, and continuous improvement of large-scale food processing equipment. This role provides hands-on experience working directly alongside engineers, designers, and production personnel on the manufacturing floor, assisting with real projects that impact safety, quality, delivery, and cost.


This is not a “shadowing” internship — interns contribute meaningful work and are expected to take ownership of tasks and results.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create and revise 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks
  • Assist with 2D detailing, BOMs, and engineering documentation
  • Support shop floor troubleshooting and design improvements
  • Participate in kaizen and continuous improvement activities
  • Help update legacy prints and standardize design practices
  • Perform basic calculations, measurements, and prototype testing
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Welding, Controls, and Assembly teams
  • Support project engineers with scheduling, organization, and follow-ups

Requirements

  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Mechanically inclined; comfortable in a hands-on shop environment
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Self-starter with a willingness to learn and ask questions

Work Environment

  • Primarily manufacturing floor and engineering environments
  • Hands-on work with industrial equipment and electrical systems
