OVERVIEW

The Technical Design Intern is a student or recent graduate responsible for supporting the lifecycle of garment development through hands-on technical and administrative assistance. This role provides exposure to the technical design process, supporting fit development and maintaining design integrity from sketch to sample. The intern will collaborate closely with the technical design team while gaining industry-specific experience in a professional fashion environment.

The Alo internship programs starts June 8th through Julys 31st. Interns will be working 40 hours a week at our Commerce office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in creating and updating technical fit packages and supporting research and development initiatives

  • Develop an understanding of fabric performance, garment construction, and fit standards

  • Support trend and material research and assist with sourcing fabrics and trims

  • Help coordinate fit model scheduling, mood board creation, and sample management

  • Ensure visual and technical assets align with brand standards

  • Attend fit and departmental meetings to take notes and assist with maintaining internal fit agendas and documentation

  • Conduct research and prepare technical fit reports for the technical design team

  • Support daily operational and administrative tasks including sample management, rack organization, boxing samples, and trim room organization

  • Assist with swatch cutting, swatch book creation, Coloro swatch book management, and coordination with the cutting team

  • Job shadow senior technical designers and support communication between internal teams and external vendors

  • Assist with general office tasks including meetings, celebrations, vendor visits, and lunch coordination

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong creative and detail-oriented mindset with the ability to identify technical inconsistencies

  • Clear and effective communication skills across internal teams and external partners

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Proactive learner with a willingness to develop proficiency in internal systems and industry tools

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Fashion Design, Technical Design, or related degree program

  • Basic proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite or CAD

  • Fundamental knowledge of garment construction and sewing techniques

  • Previous internship experience is a plus but not required

  • Portfolio demonstrating technical sketching and fabric knowledge is highly encouraged

The compensation for this position is $25 per hour.
