About the Role

Job Purpose

The TechnipFMC Legal Department Intern Program prepares law students for full-time employment in their respective field upon their graduation through an in-depth exposure to various roles and responsibilities of various legal specialties within a legal corporate environment. The Legal Intern incumbent will have the opportunity to be part of our legal team who works with other members of the legal department, Company executives, and the Company’s finance, treasury, investor relations, people & culture, and operations teams to support the Company’s needs.  They will be guided by a manager and mentor throughout the summer and will work on value-added projects with tangible objectives to apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world practical setting to further develop their technical skills in specialized legal areas of practice utilized to protect the Company. Areas of focus may include employment law, corporate governance and entities management, IP, real estate, contract review and negotiation, litigation, and compliance. 

The ideal candidate will be extremely detail-oriented, confident, professional, and proactive in their approach, possess the ability to work collaboratively, and be capable of working autonomously.  They must be comfortable with, and skilled in, interacting with senior attorneys, other professionals in various departments, and executives.  

Job Description

  • Researching, reviewing, drafting, organizing, and analyzing legal issues related to the topics assigned
  • Preparing legal templates for global use within the company
  • Developing training materials or document SOPs
  • Building relationships across the Legal function and other corporate and business functions to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization.
  • Identifying and recommending improvements to policies and procedures that will reduce the administrative burden on customers while ensuring the accuracy of data/information being gathered

You are meant for this job if:

  • You are a law student who has completed your first year of law school with a minimum 3.2 GPA (3.5+ GPA strongly preferred), unofficial transcript required. Must be able to work 15-20 hours a week.You are proficient using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and have excellent written (writing sample required) and verbal communication skills.
  • You are able to effectively interface with various internal and external parties, including management, suppliers, and customers. Previous work experience in an office (or similar) environment required.
  • You are capable of executing tasks independently and are proactive in seeking assistance and guidance, when needed.
  • You can maintain and respect the company’s confidentiality requirements.
  • You demonstrate a high level of maturity, independent judgment, adaptability, and professionalism, including an ability to manage multiple tasks in an environment with ever-changing priorities.
  • You possess a superior attention to detail with a strong work ethic and a drive for high quality work product.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without restriction.  For this position we are not sponsoring or taking over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 
Spends 90% of time in temperature-controlled office environment and 10% of local travel to participate in Company offered internship. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
