About Us: Established in 1975 by an act of the Virginia General Assembly, the Capital Region Airport Commission owns and operates Richmond International Airport (RIC). The Commission directs the growth, operation and business activities of RIC and works tirelessly to ensure it continues to be an affordable option for local, regional, and out-of-state travelers.

This internship offers an exceptional opportunity to gain meaningful experience while supporting RIC's mission. As an intern you will engage in job shadowing, attend formal presentations, conduct research and writing, assist with administrative tasks, analyze data, and explore a wide range of fields—including Accounting/Finance, Facilities, Communications, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, and Operations. We strongly encourage bilingual and multilingual applicants to apply. This internship is fully on-site and requires a flexible schedule to conduct passenger surveys. 

Description of Responsibilities: The Summer Internship Program provides outstanding students with hands-on experience within an unique industry. Through advanced project assignments and professional development activities, interns build practical skills and deepen their knowledge of aviation/ airport industry.   This internship is designed as training and skill‑building opportunities for students and recent graduates in the early stages of their careers. We recognize that each applicant brings a distinct set of skills, knowledge, and experiences—including those not directly related to aviation—and we value the diverse perspectives they contribute.

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Undergraduate or graduate student in business management, communication, engineering, marketing, administration, or a relevant field.

Knowledge/Skills: 

  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.  
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Canva, Adobe, or social media platforms, are highly preferred
  • Moderate physical activity to include walking, standing, or lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work up to 26 hours per week, internship is on-site only.

  • Ability to work independently when needed
