About the Role

Job Purpose/Description        

This position will be working in support of our classroom teachers during the academic portion of the summer program. This position is potentially a paid summer internship, and we will work with you and your professors.

Job Duties

  • Administer summer curriculum developed by the primary teacher/UB,UBMS staff
  •  Support  instruction toward college preparation.
  •  Help promote objectives of the UB & UBMS Program.
  •  Attend teacher meetings as needed. 
  •  Tutor, advise and evaluate students as needed.
  •  Recommend students for UB & UBMS awards.
  •  Consistently enforce the UB & UBMS summer rules in a fair manner.
  •  Report all classroom difficulties to the primary teacher or UB & UBMS staff.
  •  Perform other duties as assigned by the primary teacher.
  •  Other duties may be assigned and/or necessary.
  •  Administer summer curriculum developed by the primary teacher/UB,UBMS staff

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled college student or recent college graduate
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Attend summer training
  • Must be willing to work Monday-Friday 8:00-3:30 P.M. 
  • Ability to work with high school students within a classroom setting
  • Enthusiastic and responsible   

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic success in basic academic areas, with math and science courses strongly preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals
  • Ability to modify assignments/provide accommodations at discretion of teacher
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Evidence of leadership qualities
