Purpose & Responsibilities of Position:

 

The Protein Purification Intern will have the opportunity to learn more about working cross-functionally with in vitro and in vivo teams to design purification processes and characterization of test articles within the Protein Discovery group. 

  • Work with industry experts to design and optimize a novel chromatography process. The intern will then refine the process with additional unique load materials.
  • Learn how to produce aseptic test articles with small scale chromatography and formulate those test articles using UF/DF.
  • Run assays to characterize the formulated test articles.
  • Work cross-functionally to collaborate with area subject matter experts to produce test articles which meet the target product profile.
  • Communicate data discoveries and analysis in impactful presentations.

  • Candidate must be accepted into or currently enrolled in program as a rising Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree OR pursuing master’s OR PhD degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related
  • Candidate must currently have GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Basic skills necessary: Microsoft Office, record keeping, data analysis, presentation
  • Lab skills necessary
    • Basic lab skills - pipetting, notebook keeping, pH meter, making buffers, lab safety
    • Advanced lab skills – FPLC Chromatography (must), packing columns, plate-based assays like ELISA, SDS-PAGE
