About the Role

Description

  

Summary:

  • Support a major spring/summer project focused on developing a complete parts management system for Cooper Splicers.
  • Provide interns with hands-on exposure to mechanical systems, drafting, technical writing, and asset organization.
  • Improve efficiency and accuracy of parts tracking and maintenance processes within the department.

Objectives:

  • Provide hands-on engineering experience in parts management and equipment maintenance.
  • Teach interns to read and update technical drawings and manuals.
  • Develop intern proficiency with Asset Essentials software.
  • Build foundational mechanical understanding of Cooper Splicer equipment.
  • Strengthen project planning and technical documentation skills.

  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create part numbers and link them to schematics.
  • Establish a structured system for organizing and locating parts.
  • Use Asset Essentials software for parts and asset management.
  • Update machine manuals and technical documents.
  • Assist maintenance team with equipment fundamentals.
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  

· Preferred mechanical engineering, drafting, manufacturing, or related field students.

· Technical drafting & CAD experience

· Ability to read schematics and machine drawings

· Must have high school diploma.

· Must have completed at least one year of study at a four-year accredited college or university 


· Must be able to commute to Newport, NC for the duration of the internship. Temporary Housing is available.
