[EdgeConneX is looking for summer interns. This will be a paid, 10-week internship from June 1, 2026, to August 7, 2026]

Title: Cyber Security Intern  

Pay: $23/hr

As a Cyber Security Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of cybersecurity while assisting our team in ensuring the security and integrity of our organization's digital assets. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will contribute to various projects aimed at protecting our systems, networks, and data from cyber threats.   

 

Primary Responsibilities 

Security Monitoring and Incident Response: 

  • Assist in monitoring security alerts and logs for potential security incidents. 
  • Participate in incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and resolution of security breaches. 

Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing: 

  • Support vulnerability scanning and assessment activities to identify potential security weaknesses. 
  • Assist in conducting penetration tests on systems and networks to evaluate their security posture. 

Security Awareness and Training: 

  • Contribute to the development of security awareness materials and training programs for employees. 
  • Assist in organizing and conducting security awareness sessions and workshops. 

Security Policy and Compliance: 

  • Assist in reviewing and updating security policies, standards, and procedures. 
  • Participate in compliance assessments and audits to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards. 

Security Tool Evaluation and Implementation: 

  • Assist in evaluating new security technologies and tools for potential implementation. 
  • Support the deployment and configuration of security solutions to enhance the organization's defenses. 

Documentation and Reporting: 

  • Maintain documentation related to security procedures, configurations, and incidents. 
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing security findings, activities, and recommendations. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

  • Basic understanding of networking protocols, operating systems, and cybersecurity concepts. 
  • Strong understanding of cloud concepts surrounding security (Microsoft Azure, AWS and Google Cloud). 
  • Familiarity with common security tools and technologies, such as SOAR/ SIEM, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and antivirus solutions. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. 
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity. 
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH) are a plus. 

 

Experience/Education 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
