About the Role

The Information Technology Rotational Intern performs a variety of tasks to help improve Cleveland Metroparks technology portfolio and infrastructure. The Information technology Intern’s understanding of current and emerging technologies and core computer science concepts are applied to projects and processes across Cleveland Metroparks.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, curious learner with a strong interest in exploring multiple facets of IT. Through project-based work, this role offers the opportunity to partner with every area of the Information Technology department and engage with cross‑departmental teams throughout Cleveland Metroparks.

Candidates should have a familiarity with at least a subset of these technical skills:

  • Web and Application Development using .NET, Content Management Systems, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, MSSQL, CI/CD, and related skills.
  • Cybersecurity, malware analysis cryptography, incident response, compliance and regulations, cyber threat intelligence, cloud security, identity and access management, security management, and related skills.
  • Network Operations, including infrastructure, network configuration and monitoring, troubleshooting, and related skills.
  • Customer Services, including hardware and software deployment, Microsoft O365/SharePoint/OneDrive administration, desktop support, and related customer-facing skills.
  • Other applicable skills (optional): e-commerce and point-of-sale, user experience (UX) research and design, digital exhibits and interactive technologies, virtual/extended reality (VR/XR), database administration, data analysis and visualization, web analytics, or similar areas of focus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meets with staff to complete requirements gathering and project planning
  • Contributes to data and business intelligence projects
  • Contributes web design and development using technologies supported in a Microsoft-stack environment
  • Performs testing, deployment, and support of new and existing applications in collaboration with full-time development staff
  • Contributes content updates to the public website, employee portal, and potentially other digital exhibits or products

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the general public.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings.
  • Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.

Work Days: Monday – Friday up to 40 hours per week for the approximate duration of May – August 2026

Work Location: This is an on-site position that reports in-person to the Cleveland Metroparks Administrative Offices.
