About the Role

The Duckhorn Portfolio is North America’s premier luxury wine company. We were established in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn. Today, our portfolio features some of North America’s most revered wineries, including Decoy, Paraduxx, Goldeneye, Migration, Canvasback, Calera, Kosta Browne, Sonoma Cutrer, Greenwing and Postmark. 

Under close supervision of the Duckhorn Vineyards Winemaking team, the Harvest Enologist will lead inoculations and fermentation additions, assist with operational and logistical projects, and perform daily administrative tasks. This role will be held full-time at our Migration Winery in Carneros. The position requires an understanding of winemaking to ensure the highest quality standards are always upheld. Additionally, the position requires a focused attention to detail, a passion for organization, and a proactive desire to help wherever needed.

 

What we will ask you to do:

  • Perform additions, inoculations, and pump overs.
  • Update the cellar tank map and white board, and check tank placards for accuracy. 
  • Manage and coordinate harvest lunches.
  • Drive company truck to pick up enological supplies or equipment.
  • Assist the laboratory and cellar in taking Brix and temperatures on active ferments using DMA. 
  • Support the cellar by performing topping, grape sorting, and other tasks as needed.
  • Support the laboratory by pulling samples as needed. 
  • Maintain various wine inventories, including full barrel and tank inventories.
  • Maintain breakroom and office supplies. Reorder and stock supplies as necessary.

 

What you will need:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree, college-level coursework in Enology, Viticulture, or related field a plus
  • Previous experience in winery production (1-2 years preferred).
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn. 
  • Ability to work independently and stay on task.
  • Computer skills, including Excel and Word. 
  • Valid California driver’s license and clean driving record.
