About the Role

Industrial Maintenance Intern

Scot Forge Company is looking to hire a Maintenance Intern for a 3 month internship at the manufacturing facility in Franklin Park, IL. A Maintenance Internship at Scot Forge will provide a variety of experiences and exposure to the manufacturing environment, and application of mechanical and engineering skills through project work and daily tasks that directly impact production efficiency.

Anticipated Projects and Daily Tasks include:

  • Lead Continuous Improvement Projects developed with team; practice documentation and project management skills; utilize Lean Six Sigma / 5S / Lean Manufacturing and related tools 
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and lubrication procedures on industrial equipment
  • Daily inspections to anticipate upcoming repair needs
  • Minor repairs on equipment
  • Work 1-on-1 with experienced Maintenance professionals on major repairs
  • Assist with basic equipment problem identification, diagnosis and repair  
  • Learn Lock out/Tag out procedures  
  • Familiarization with the substations and distribution of power throughout the plant and the emergency shutdown procedures  
  • Learn how to trouble shoot any issues that may come across in the electrical, mechanical or hydraulic areas 


Required Qualifications:

  • Active student enrolled higher education programs in industrial maintenance, engineering, or similar
  • Ability to work minimum 25 hours a week in shop floor environment
  • Written and Verbal communication
  • Project Management


Additional Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work anywhere in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Must be able to pass a 90 day head hair drug test today
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs

The estimated pay range for this position is the lowest and highest range we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We ultimately may pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. The actual base pay offered to a candidate will depend on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, geographic location and prevailing minimum wage, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.
