Job Description

The Terminal Operations Rotational Internship Program is designed to provide hands-on experience in various aspects of terminal operations, logistics, and supply chain management. Interns will rotate through key departments, gaining exposure to critical functions such as cargo handling, equipment operation, regulatory compliance, safety procedures, and operational efficiency. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop industry knowledge, technical skills, and leadership capabilities in a real-world terminal environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Terminal Operations & Logistics

    • Assist with the coordination of inbound and outbound shipments.
    • Gain exposure to terminal flow, scheduling, and resource allocation.
    • Observe cargo handling, storage, and inventory management.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

    • Learn about industry safety standards, environmental regulations, and emergency response procedures.
    • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and compliance training.
    • Support risk management initiatives to ensure a safe working environment.

Equipment & Maintenance

    • Assist in equipment inspections, preventative maintenance planning, and repair coordination.
    • Learn about the functionality of cranes, conveyors, forklifts, and other terminal equipment.

Customer Service & Communication

    • Interact with trucking companies, vessel crews, and warehouse teams to support terminal operations.
    • Gain an understanding of documentation, scheduling, and logistics coordination.

Technology & Data Management

    • Work with terminal management systems to track shipments and performance metrics.
    • Assist in data analysis and reporting to improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Enrolled at a college/university/trade school through Summer 2025 and/or into the Fall 2025.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree program in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation, Business, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college/university/trade school.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card (issued by the Department of Homeland Security)
  • Strong interest in terminal operations, logistics, and the transportation industry.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and work in outdoor conditions.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with logistics software is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and engage with cross-functional teams.
