About the Role
This position supports the Engineering Department by assisting with the creation and modification of mechanical drawings, panel layouts, and component designs in both 3D and 2D environments. The intern will also collaborate with the manufacturing and R&D teams to update parts and components, both physically and within the MRP system (SAP).
Roles/Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation of schematics, panel layouts, component parts, and bills of materials, following engineering sketches.
- Work with senior engineers to identify production workflow inefficiencies and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Provide technical support to troubleshoot fabrication issues on the manufacturing shop floor.
- Contribute to revising designs to correct operational deficiencies and reduce fabrication errors in component parts.
- Update bills of materials and related part information in SAP to reflect design revisions.
- Assist in maintaining and updating Quality Assurance checklists
Qualifications:
- Must be actively enrolled in an accredited engineering degree program with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- A Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred, though students pursuing an Applied Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting and Design, or Systems Engineering will also be considered.
- Experience with SolidWorks (preferred), AutoCAD, or DraftSight is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
