About the Role

Job Description

David Weekley Homes is seeking a highly motivated Summer 2026 Purchasing Intern to join our team in San Antonio. The ideal candidate will have curiosity and passion for learning more about what drives the homebuilding industry.

You will learn:

Category Management: 

  • The importance of accurately reporting hard costs for various categories. 
  • How to review warranty issues with Preferred Partners. 
  • Scope of Work management with internal and external teams for specific categories. 
  • How to implement redline plan changes and communicate to Preferred Partners. 
  • Walk new floor plans and collaborate to improve home value and design. 

Contract Negotiation and Bid Management: 

  • Negotiating contracts and model discounts for select categories. 
  • Maintaining item pricing and report unit pricing.
  • Managing the bid process from request for proposal to cost submittal. 
  • Analyze bid proposals to ensure they are complete and comparable.
  • Negotiate contracts to ensure the best pricing and performance.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a full-time college program with an interest in pursuing Purchasing within the residential construction industry
  • Must have housing available in the greater San Antonio area for the duration of the internship
  • Able to work up to 40 hours per week
