Job Description: STEM Internships (year-round, renewable)

 

In a year-round technical internship (part time during semester, full time during breaks), you will be responsible for applying fundamental engineering principles and critical thinking to design, develop, implement, and troubleshoot cryogenic system design and manufacturing processes. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively and work in a collaborative environment to accomplish one or more projects. You must be able to exercise independent judgment, adapt to constant changes, and deliver project milestones at various intervals. This is a great opportunity for a flexible self-starter to work in a dynamic environment supporting a world class engineering team.

 

STEM 1: Mechanical and Electrical System Emphasis

Job Duties:

  • Assist Design and Manufacturing Engineers(s) in creation of standard operating procedures (SOP) and work instructions (WI).
  • Prepare and update SOP and Work-Instruction documentation.
  • Assist in organizing and updating engineering designs, databases, as required.
  • Drive critical design elements of the Engineering Change (EC) implementation process.
  • Track and report the status of selected subsystem manufacturing projects.
  • Assist in other aspects of completing system build plans.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Working towards BS/MS Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics, Computer Science, Chemical, Mechanical,

Materials Science, Mathematics or related field.

 

STEM 2: Business Information System Development Emphasis

Job Duties:

  • Develop a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) application for Engineering CAD system (Onshape) to generate Product Structure and BOM information for Engineering, Manufacturing, and Service teams.
  • Facilitate Management of Change capability into the PLM system.
  • Develop and application to enable the Production team t track part locations throughout the facility using bar code scanning capability.

 

Coding Skills:

  • Full Stack application developer utilizing Python and SQLite for the back end and
    JavaScript, HTML, Jinja, and CSS for the front end.

 

Internship Duration: 12 months (PT during school semesters & FT during breaks)

Pay: $18-$21/hour
